Jonathan Franzen snubbed Oprah. But no, that’s not why I loved this book. The hype this book generated was matched only by its greatness. This is certainly not a “light” read – but neither is the Lambert family a light-hearted bunch. Their up’s and down’s and tragic decisions and indecisions send this novel into the non-existent world of the “all-American” family.
